1- About CIPS
CIPS exists to promote and develop high standards of professional skill, ability and integrity among all those engaged in purchasing and supply chain management. CIPS assists individuals, organisations and the profession as a whole.
As an influential professional body, CIPS helps all kinds of organisations achieve all-round excellence in procurement and supply management. We do this by offering a range of products and services to equip you with the knowledge, training, and practical skills you need to derive maximum benefit from your procurement practices.
2- About CIPS Qualifications
Throughout the world CIPS qualifications are recognised as driving leading edge thinking and professionalism in procurement. MCIPS is recognised worldwide as the standard for procurement professionals. Download our Guide to Qualifications here.
We offer five qualifications to support your professional development in procurement and supply. On successful completion of the Diploma, Advanced and Professional diplomas and in conjunction with three years’ experience in a role of responsibility in procurement and supply, you may apply for full membership of CIPS to use the designatory letters, MCIPS.
CIPS is an Awarding Body recognised by Ofqual, the qualification regulator for England and Northern Ireland, and the qualifications appear on the Register of Regulated Qualifications.
3- Joining the programme
Before you start your studies, join our global community as a member, joining a CIPS qualification programme means you will join the largest Institute in the world for those working in procurement and supply. You can join as a member online or by downloading a membership form.
To take any CIPS examination or assessment your membership must be current member. Studying members also enjoy many other benefits and resources.
4- Entry requirements
The CIPS ladder of qualifications ranges from Certificate to Professional Diploma level. There are no entry requirements for the qualifications at Certificate or Advanced certificate level.
If you wish to start on a Diploma level qualification, you should have at least two A-levels (or international equivalent) or a CIPS Certificate level qualification. Students without any prior qualifications must have at least two years’ experience in a business environment.
5- What if you already have relevant qualifications or experience?
You may be entitled to some unit exemptions if you already have a relevant degree or qualification. Exemptions are designed to make sure that you do not repeat learning that has already been undertaken and recognised.
6- What if you have no relevant qualifications but lots of experience?
If you do not have relevant procurement and supply management qualifications but have been a buyer for around two years or more, with a minimum of at least two A-levels (or international equivalent) or a CIPS Advanced Certificate qualification, you are eligible to start from CIPS Diploma in Procurement and Supply. This is our highest level entry point into the qualifications ladder.
7- No previous qualifications?
You can start to study with CIPS if you have no previous professional qualifications or experience; our Certificate and Advanced Certificate are available to all.
